FORBIDDEN CITY ARRIVAL OF THE EMPEROR

ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM

The Royal Ontario Museum exhibit Forbidden City - Inside the Court of China’s Emperors featured a projection of a mural depicting the arrival of the Emperor after battle.
ABOUT
The mural was used at the entrance to the exhibit, engaging visitors to experience the personal, human story within the City The Forbidden City. The entrance featured prominent emperors  from time of this imperial palace from AD1406 -1911.
PROCESS
The process of bringing the mural to life involved the stitching of 14 32Mega Pixel images of the mural. Once this was done we had to separate all the selected characters from the background (and filling in the background). Next we created loops upon loops of animated legs and applied this to the dozens of horse and walking characters.
